Stranger Things Season four reintroduces audiences to Hawkins, the most ideal location for vacation. Trust me, one day in Hawkins will turn your life “upside down”. There may be some rampant supernatural activity, demonic creatures from another dimension, and a girl who looks like Eminem with psychic and telekinetic powers but don’t worry about that. Hawkins is the place to be, ask Netflix.
Throughout season four, Stranger Things reaches its self-imposed standard until the last two episodes where it’s blown lightyears out of Earth’s orbit. Tensions are running high, tears are running down, and everyone’s running up a hill listening to Kate Bush.
The Magic Of Stranger Things 4
Suspense and horror are elevated to a palpable point but still leave plenty of breathing room for excitement, humor, and a slight touch of 80s movie nostalgia. The brilliant writing and directing from The Duffer Brothers combined with excellent performances from everyone in the cast, and frighteningly authentic visual effects crafted this penultimate season into a masterpiece.
The fourth season stands out above the preceding seasons in terms of structure. This season was split into two parts, with seven long episodes in the first part, and two even longer episodes in the second part as The Duffer Brothers and Netflix generously ended this season with two movies basically.

The season’s format wasn’t the only thing that was split. The group dynamic is altered as the story divides the cast into subgroups, with each of them given a subplot. From a narrative standpoint, it was a clever way to have audiences watch the story unfold from the revolving perspectives of our heroes.
The Kids Aren’t Alright But Don’t Worry They’re Just Great Actors
The division among the core group made for some uneasy viewing due to rising tensions of seeing the troupe defenseless as they were separated from their super soldier Jane. On the upside(no pun intended), main characters, including fresh faces are given more time to shine and showcase the talent behind them.
Acting has never been an issue for the cast of Stranger Things, we all know they’re quite proficient in the craft. Natalia Dyer, Millie Bobbie Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, and Gaten Matarazzo carried the show with the rest of the cast including the new kid on the block Joseph Quinn only inches behind.
Veterans Winona Ryder and David Harbour took a step back and graciously let the younger ones to lead the way while their characters had their own not-so-little predicament to sort out. They had less screen time compared to others but during that time they were almost in their own show ripe with tragedy, romance, comedy, and horror of course. I wish we could’ve seen more of them, their talent and chemistry make for a vivacious master class in acting.

It’s bewildering how so many emotions were triggered from a spectrum ranging anywhere from hysteria to catharsis sporadically. That’s not something that can be accomplished easily, yet The Duffer Brothers dared to do the seemingly impossible and stare into the eyes of victory with a talented cast and crew.
Now we revel in their success as we eagerly await the final season. All episodes are available to watch on Netflix. Stranger Things season five will arrive in 2024.
