Is ‘Malcolm In The Middle’ Making A Comeback? Here’s What The Legendary Frankie Muniz Had To Say

In the renaissance of reboots and revivals, it was only a matter of time before Malcolm In The Middle entered the conversation. Malcolm himself, Frankie Muniz has slipped an interesting piece of information revealing that his former TV dad Bryan Cranston is working on a script for a potential reboot.

During an interview with Fox News Digital to discuss his involvement as a cast member of the VH1 show, The Surreal Life, Muniz reminisced on his tenure on the hit sitcom Malcolm in the Middle.

The former child star/teen heartthrob talked about the show’s success and longevity as the beloved comedy aired on television for seven seasons and 151 episodes before revealing that Bryan Cranston is working on a script for a potential reboot of Malcolm In The Middle

“When I was filming the show, I obviously was a kid. We did seven seasons, 151 episodes. I didn’t really watch the show when it was on, but I’ve now since watched the show with my wife. We [watched] all 151 episodes… I realized, ‘Wow, that’s what we were making.’… I can separate myself from being on it and watching it as a fan. I would love to know what the family’s up to. I know Bryan Cranston is really into the idea and he’s kind of heading writing the script and getting everything rolling. So, there might be something. I would be down 100 percent. But I don’t know – we’ll see what happens.”

Is The World Ready For A Reboot Of Malcolm In The Middle?

Malcolm In The Middle

News of Bryan Cranston developing a reboot featuring the cynical boy genius in America’s most dysfunctional family can be too exciting to digest but there are still many unknown variables to consider.

We don’t know how far the project is along, nor do we know whether or not it was approved by Disney. If it’s approved, will it be on Disney Plus, Hulu, or one of Disney’s cable channels such as ABC, or Freeform, or, will it be on Fox? We do not know yet.

Cast of Malcolm In The Middle

It’s reassuring to hear about Muniz being willing to return for the potential reboot. Hopefully, if all goes well, we’ll see the rest of the cast return. As we all know, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek who played the parents Hal and Jane respectively are the most active actors from the cast, the rest of the cast are either retired or make seldom appearances on TV playing minor characters.

I personally think the word ‘reboot’ gets tossed around loosely. I believe the Malcolm In The Middle “reboot” that Cranston is working on is a more of sequel or revival of some sort. Anyway, it would be nice to see Malcolm and his family return with their raw unapologetic sense of humor intact.
