Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 has concluded their odyssey to find Adam Warlock in none other than Will Poulter who will be playing Marvel’s legendary golden-skinned hero.
The Odyssey To Find Adam Warlock
Many big names were rumored as candidates for the cosmic powerhouse, ranging from Zac Efron, Charlie Hunnam, and Liam Hemsworth, among others. Apparently, Will Poulter had something none of those guys had which made James Gunn handpick him to play Adam Warlock. Few trades leaked this casting a few days ago, but this was dismissed as another rumor until Deadline confirmed the news to be true.

Adam Warlock was teased at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. So much time has passed since then, many of us forgot about that, truth be told, I nearly forgot about that entire movie, I wish I did but I digress. In a post-credit scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Ayesha, played by Elizabeth Debicki reveals to a loyal subject, the perfect Sovereign she has engineered to aid in destroying the Guardians of the Galaxy once and for all. Since then, fans have been waiting for Adam Warlock’s impending arrival with bated breath.
Deadline’s sources said Gunn and execs began their extensive search for the individual who would be portraying Warlock near the end of August, with Poulter meeting along with numerous other actors for the yearned role. As it is common with any major Marvel property, execs and Gunn took their time with the role given how excited fans were when it was first teased. In the end, Poulter’s test was too good to pass up.
I can’t tell you what Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is about yet, because, in true Marvel fashion, the plot is locked hidden in a vault far away from public eyes. All we know so far is that Adam Warlock is going to have some strong words with the Guardians of the Galaxy with his hands doing most of the talking.
Who Is Adam Warlock?
Adam Warlock is a sentient being constructed by the Enclave in an effort to engineer “the perfect man”. The Enclave was essentially a group of scientists who were trying to play God. They did not bother to give him a name, they referred to him only as “him”. Things did not go as planned for the Enclave as their creation developed a mind of his own and rebelled against their maniacal nature.
He then had an encounter with Thor that didn’t go well and was subsequently beaten to the brink of death. He was eventually revived by a regenerative cocoon and adopted by The High Evolutionary who gave him the name, Warlock while bestowing the Soul Gem upon him. Later he bonded with a teenage girl who gave him the name, Adam.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is going a slightly different route with Adam’s origin as you may have seen in the post-credits scene for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2. The Cocoon element remains intact but he’s being brought to life by Ayesha, Queen of the Sovereign to enact revenge against the Guardians for stealing their batteries.
I must say, I do look forward to seeing Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock in action. Poulter is a phenomenal actor with a vast range and Adam Warlock is an iconic superhero with god-like capabilities, so this ought to be interesting.
